How it works
A duration is an amount of time, not a moment. This page reads it, turns it into milliseconds and writes it back out in every common form. Seconds, minutes, hours, days and weeks have fixed lengths: a day here is always 24 hours.
Months and years don't have fixed lengths. A month is 28 to 31 days and a year 365 or 366, so they're counted as their average lengths (30.44 and 365.24 days) and the result is marked as approximate. To add a month to a real date, use the date calculator.
ISO 8601 writes durations as P followed by years, months, weeks and days, then T and hours, minutes and seconds: P1DT2H30M is 1 day, 2 hours and 30 minutes. The M before T is months, after it minutes. APIs, calendar files and video players use this form.
A clock form with two parts, like 1:30, is read as hours and minutes. Write 0:01:30 for one and a half minutes. To find the time between two dates, use the time difference calculator.
