At the start, America/New_York is UTC-4 and Asia/Tokyo is UTC+9. Years, months and days are counted on America/New_York's calendar: the To time there is Saturday 10 October 2026, 03:25:00.
Business days count Monday to Friday from the From date up to, but not including, the To date.
How it works
The difference is counted the way a calendar does: whole years, then months, then days, then the hours and minutes left over. From 31 January to 1 March is 1 month and 1 day, because a month after 31 January is the last day of February.
Clocks jump when daylight saving time (DST) starts or ends. From midnight to midnight across the spring change is 1 calendar day but only 23 real hours. The calendar difference counts days on the From time zone's clocks, while the totals count real elapsed time. When the two differ, the page tells you.
Business days are Monday to Friday, minus any holidays you list. The count includes the From date but not the To date, like a plain day count: Monday to the next Monday is 5 business days.
To add an amount to a date instead, use the date calculator. To see what time it is in several places, use the time zone converter. To convert a length of time between units, use the duration converter.
